Prairie Playday!
Dad and mom, grandparents, aunts and uncles - have you been looking for an inexpensive way to connect with the younger generation in today’s electronic world?
Explore nature at your own pace, or a guided tour of native prairie, wetlands, fish in the Little Sioux River, hike 5 miles of mowed trails through tall grass and fields of flowers.
Come to the Prairie Flower for hours of exploring the outdoors. You will come in contact with many species of birds, butterflies and insects. During the summer, grassland birds are everywhere, Bobolinks are soaring and singing their wonderful song, Upland sandpipers are running in the grasses, and if you are lucky, you may see an American Bittern or an American Bald eagle - just a few of the birds we have.
Dragonflies and damsel flies are flitting around overhead - be sure to bring binoculars and cameras for once in a lifetime shots.
You can see where ancient Indians are buried and enjoy a piece of history that has never been plowed.
Plant identification materials and refreshments included.
Prairie Playday season is from June 1 through September 1.
